Dinner For Two

Hey friends!

How was y'all's weekend? Our weekend was good! It was filled with friends, family, and tons of food. Yesterday especially I had lots of good food before me. We went to an event, and they had these cute little charcuterie cups with all my favorite cheese and meats. I was way too excited! Jesse and I have been committed to cooking at home, so I expected this to be like any other night. So I decided to take advantage and fill up on cheese. Well, I ate like 3 little cups, plus a cookie, and was good but still not satisfied. After the event, Jesse drove up to Whataburger. I was confused… and wishing I hadn't just picked at those cups and waited to eat well. He knew I was tired and wanted to give me a break. I was in such a rush to eat whatever that I missed the chance to be full and satisfied with one good meal. I missed the opportunity at a dinner for two that would fill my stomach and heart while spending time with my husband.

Sometimes when we try to sit down to read our bible, we rush through some of it, just taking it in just because. Sometimes we don't even realize what we are reading, and we are halfway down the page. Maybe it's not even the bible we are getting little snacks from. It might be a quote from Instagram, a video on TikTok, or a short message on youtube. We take these little chunks of the word rather than to sit down and read a whole passage and digest it or listen to the message every Sunday. We will never be satisfied with these bits and see a difference in our lives if we continue doing that. We will definitely be full when we read the scripture line by line and process what it says.

This week as you feel like you've gotten your dose of the word of God in for the day, try and set dedicated time aside to truly meditate on the gospel. Sit down for a three-course meal with some delicious dessert instead of getting what you can on the go. Don't leave the week hungry for God. He has much to offer if only you would take a seat at the table that he has prepared. Dinner for two, anyone?

We love you!

Jesse and Marissa
